Position Overview

The Label Designer Integrator is responsible for designing and implementing product labels using BarTender Label Designer software integrated with an on-premise SQL Data Warehouse. This role requires both technical expertise and stakeholder collaboration to ensure label designs are accurate, data-driven, compliant, and seamlessly connected to production workflows. The Label Designer Integrator will partner with internal Engineering, IT, and Production Teams as well as Vendors to gather requirements and deliver cost-efficient, high-quality labeling solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Requirements Gathering & Stakeholder Collaboration:
  • Engage with internal stakeholders (Engineering, Production, IT and marketing) to document label content and business requirements.
  • Translate stakeholder needs into label design and integration specifications.
  • Act as the primary liaison between business users and technical teams and lead the stakeholders to labeling solutions.
  • Label Design & Development:
  • Develop and maintain label templates using BarTender Label Designer.
  • Incorporate product data, barcodes, QR codes, graphics, and regulatory information.
  • Ensure consistency in label layouts across product lines.
  • Data Integration & Systems Management:
  • Connect label templates to data sources within the on-prem SQL Data Warehouse.
  • Configure data queries, dynamic fields, and automation rules to ensure labels are populated with the correct data.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to data connectivity, template logic, or output formatting.
  • Compliance & Standards:
  • Ensure label content complies with all applicable domestic and international standards (GS1, etc.).
  • Maintain version control and audit trails for label templates.
  • Collaborate with regulatory teams to address compliance changes.
  • Quality Control & Production Support:
  • Conduct pre-production validation to ensure label accuracy, clarity, and barcode readability.
  • Support production teams with technical issues related to printing and data feeds.
  • Document processes and maintain standard operating procedures for label management.

Key Skills & Knowledge

  • Label Design & Software: Proficiency with BarTender Label Designer (or equivalent label design platforms).
  • Database & Integration: Strong understanding of SQL queries, relational data structures, and integrating label templates with data warehouses.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with industry labeling standards (GS1, UPC, etc.).
  • Technical Troubleshooting: Ability to diagnose issues related to label printing, barcode functionality, and data connections.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Excellent ability to work across teams to gather requirements and deliver solutions.
  • Attention to Detail: High accuracy in data mapping, compliance, and template design.
  • Project management: previous project management experience are an asset.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Graphic/Packaging Design, or related technical field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of field experience in label design, data integration, or related technical design role.
  • Hands-on experience with BarTender Label Designer and SQL databases.
  • Strong understanding of data-driven label printing and integration with ERP, WMS (JDE, Dynamics, similar).
  • Experience working in regulated industries (manufacturing or logistics) preferred.
