Underwriting Supervisor (Hybrid)

Germania Mutual Insurance is seeking an experienced Underwriting Supervisor to join their team.

Located in Ayton Ontario – approximately 1.25 hours from Kitchener-Waterloo region, this role is hybrid, requiring minimally 1 day a week in office.

About the Role

Germania is seeking an experienced and motivated Underwriting Supervisor to lead and inspire our underwriting team. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned insurance professional ready to take the next step in their career. You will oversee complex underwriting decisions, mentor team members, and drive continuous improvement in underwriting practices.

As a key member of our leadership team, you will ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards while contributing to the overall success of our underwriting operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and support a team of underwriters, providing regular performance feedback and development opportunities.
• Review and approve complex underwriting cases, including excess liability and high-value property risks.
• Foster strong broker relationships through clear communication, timely service, and consistent follow-through.
• Ensure adherence to underwriting guidelines and regulatory requirements.
• Identify and implement opportunities to improve underwriting processes and operational efficiency.
• Contribute to initiatives that enhance workflow, accuracy, and service delivery.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education or equivalent business experience.
• Completion or active pursuit of the CIP designation.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a multi-line insurance professional.
• Demonstrated leadership and mentoring experience.
• Strong analytical, communication, and decision-making skills.
• Experience with Guidewire and knowledge of the Mutual insurance industry are considered assets.
