NOVICE CNC MACHINIST

As our Novice CNC Machinist, you will work closely with the more experienced members of our CNC team and will learn new skills in machining, be part of a dynamic team and have an opportunity to shape and influence our environment.

Under the guidance of our Machining Supervisor and other experienced members of the team, our Novice CNC Machinist will learn how to verify material and programs, set up and run the machines as well as measuring and inspecting parts as required. They will strive for competent operation of CNC both Milling and Lathe machines. They will ensure target and deadlines are met complying with OH&S legislation as well as J/E Bearing and Machine's policies. As a result, their work has a direct impact towards fulfilling business goals.

We are seeking a person with the following skill set and competencies:

· Grade 12 (OSSD) or equivalent education.

· Minimum 2 years experience in a manufacturing environment (machine shop experience would be an asset)

· Post-secondary education in machining would be considered an asset

· Experience reading blueprints and using precision measuring instruments

· Forklift and Crane experience considered an asset.

· Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 quality management system.

· Understanding of safe work procedures and the Occupational Health and Safety Act as it applies to J/E Bearing and Machine Ltd.

· Possess good time management skills, communication skills and problem-solving skills.

· Willingness to learn new skills and accommodate requests.

· Availability to work overtime as business demands require.

· Perform physical labour when required.

· Must provide a clean criminal record check upon hire.

Your skills and competencies will help you to develop the skills to do the following:

· Set up and operate various CNC vertical and horizontal Mills and Lathes.

· Work with FANUC-HAAS/Heidenhain/SIEMENS controllers.

· Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables.

· Machine parts to tight tolerance and verify dimensions of parts using precision measuring instruments.

· Document and report deviations from specifications and tolerances; complete inspection records as required.

· Review machine set-up, programming, tooling for machining efficiency.

· Maintain fixture rack organization; labeling, updating fixture spreadsheet.

· Prepare tooling and fixturing for upcoming jobs.

· Deburring machined parts for various jobs.

· Participate in the company 5S activities.

· Attend employee meetings, production meetings and safety talks as required.

· Know and demonstrate safe working procedures in the shop environment.

· Responsible for the general housekeeping of working area ensuring that it is cleaned and organized at all times.
