Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced House Manager for a private household in West Vancouver (British Columbia) to oversee the daily operations of a residence. This is a full-time and permanent position.

The House Manager will act as the primary point of coordination between household staff, external vendors, and contractors, ensuring that the residence is maintained to a high standard of organization, efficiency, and discretion.

Key Responsibilities

Household Staff Supervision

  • Supervise household staff (e.g. childcare providers, housekeepers, or other service providers), ensuring clear task allocation and consistent performance standards.
  • Provide day-to-day guidance, coordination, and support to staff to ensure smooth household operations.
  • Assist with onboarding, training, and performance feedback when required.

Vendor & Contractor Oversight

  • Supervise and coordinate all external vendors and contractors (e.g. landscaping, maintenance, repairs, security, IT, and specialty trades).
  • Schedule, monitor, and follow up on work performed to ensure quality, timeliness, and compliance with household expectations.
  • Obtain and compare quotes, manage service agreements, and report any issues or recommendations to the principals.
  • Conduct on-site supervision during maintenance, renovation, or special projects as required.

Property & Operations Management

  • Conduct regular walkthroughs of the residence to identify maintenance needs or operational improvements.
  • Maintain household schedules, service calendars, and operational checklists.
  • Ensure the home is consistently presented and maintained at a high standard.

Liaison & Reporting

  • Serve as a trusted point of contact between the principals, staff, and external service providers.
  • Communicate proactively regarding issues, priorities, and recommended actions.
  • Maintain discretion and confidentiality at all times.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven experience as a House Manager, Estate Manager, or Senior Household Supervisor in a private residence or comparable high-end environment.
  • Strong experience supervising household staff, vendors, and contractors.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Professional, discreet, and service-oriented demeanor.
  • Ability to work independently and anticipate household needs.
  • Fluency in English is required, Chinese (Mandarin) speakers preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with a vehicle.

Schedule & Employment Terms

  • Full-time, permanent position.
  • Schedule to be determined based on needs.
  • In-person role.
  • Competitive compensation, commensurate with experience.
