Position Purpose
Infrastructure Ontario (IO) is seeking an Environmental Manager to lead the strategic planning and delivery of environmental due diligence in support of provincial real estate and infrastructure projects. The role will act as the technical lead supporting internal teams and external partners in the context of the Environmental Assessment Act and related legislation, independently manage communication and relationships with clients, regulators, and stakeholders, and provide strategic recommendations in relation to environmental and geotechnical risks, regulatory and legislative requirements, and related programs, policies, and guidelines.
What You Will Do
- Independently lead the strategic planning and delivery of environmental due diligence across IO business lines and external ministries/agencies.
- Lead environmental assessments under the Environmental Assessment Act, Environmental Protection Act, and Government Property Class EA.
- Oversee environmental risk assessments and ensure alignment with regulatory standards and project goals.
- Integrate geotechnical considerations, such as soil stability, groundwater conditions, and subsurface risks, into project planning and risk assessments.
- Work collaboratively with clients to understand their needs and objectives, scope required for environmental due diligence, communicate risks, and provide commercial advice and strategic solutions.
- Analyze existing conditions, project specific needs and objectives, regulatory requirements, and determine the appropriate technical scope of work.
- Develop procurement documents, complete technical review, and evaluate proposals to ensure client and project specific needs are met and value for money is achieved.
- Proactively manage schedule, budget, technical scope of work, and proactive mitigation of risks to meet client and project needs.
- Review deliverables to ensure technical needs are met and quality assurance/control.
What We Are Looking For
- Post-secondary education in environmental science, planning, engineering, or related field an asset.
- Substantial experience working in the environmental industry in the areas of Environmental Assessment, Phase One and Two ESAs, Risk Assessments, Records of Site Condition, and in-situ and ex-situ remediation with an understanding of applicable environmental legislation and regulations and standards in the Province of Ontario.
- Experience with geotechnical investigations and their application in infrastructure and redevelopment projects.
- Knowledge of government procurement, contract negotiation, and stakeholder engagement.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and project management skills.

We offer a competitive salary range of
$99,800
to $
149,700

level), pay will align with skills, knowledge and experience of the candidate.
