(Location: Calgary, AB) Aaron Machine Shop is looking for a journeyman/woman Millwright to join our team.

What kind of work can you expect? The work we receive involves good variety, unique repair and service work and often involves thoughtful approaches to problem solving and re-engineering of existing components and assemblies, particularly among our journeymen/women.

Qualifications:

This millwright position will require you to perform many diverse jobs necessitating the ability to learn quickly and make decisions on the fly. Often this includes inspecting, repairing, cleaning, and maintaining industrial machinery and equipment, going onsite and dealing amicably with customers. We are looking for critical thinkers and leaders that don't mind getting their hands dirty.

  • Proficient in troubleshooting techniques to solve machine issues
  • Working knowledge of mechanical technical skills to effectively read documents such as specifications, machine manuals, and blueprints
  • Mechanical aptitude in dealing with wrenches, hammers, forklifts, and other similar tools
  • Good at adhering to strict safety guidelines and cognizant of safety risks
  • Excellent mathematical skills and strong attention to detail

Responsibilities:

Receive jobs from foreman and manager and carry out what is needed to complete the job

Assess the jobs received and decide the most efficient way of completing the job without sacrificing quality – with the assistance of the manager if needed

Check in with supervisor in the morning for a job schedule and list of priorities

Assembling and installing machines then testing them to make sure they are working correctly

Must work in full compliance with the approved safety regulations

Managing the layout and placement of equipment and machinery in factory settings to ensure minimum downtime

Identifying and repairing problematic parts of a machine by running tests, making temporary repairs, or installing new parts

Dismantling older machines and replacing them with new ones

Overseeing preventive maintenance by identifying and correcting potential issues, removing worn out pieces and lubricating mechanical parts

Using machinery or equipment, such as forklifts, to move mechanical parts

Run an initial quality control check on the repairs you've finished

Make sure you follow safety precautions (proper eyewear, safe footwear, proper monitoring of machinery etc.) to maintain a safe workplace for yourself and those around you

Maintain a clean and organized workspace

Communicate your questions or concerns to a supervisor. Your opinions and ideas are valued and ways of improving workplace efficiency, organization and general workplace satisfaction are appreciated. If your concerns are not addressed, please communicate them to the owner.

Operate all machines according to manufacturer specifications and formal hazard assessments
