Filler Metal Specialist/Product Manager (Full Time) - Brampton, ON
Primary Purpose
The candidate in this role will be responsible for delivering on growth targets as defined by the Business in Filler Metals and associated product categories through close collaboration and support of our territory managers as a technical expert. As a focused 'hunter', the candidate will also work in collaboration with the sales team to find new business opportunities in new and existing applications to drive growth. The candidate will also be responsible for category management of Filler Metals.

Key Accountabilities

  • Dedicated subject matter expert to lead our filler metal strategy working to develop specific growth strategies with our major original equipment manufacturers (including price and volume incentives) as well as leading our private label strategy
  • Conduct market research to understand competitive landscape and stay abreast of new emerging markets trends (both in Canada and globally) economic trends, and market conditions
  • Building and launching customized product offerings to suit market needs and solve customer pain points
  • Analyzing sales data to forecast trends and identify growth opportunities
  • Effectively position the company's offerings and ensure brand recognition
  • Work with vendors and manufacturers to ensure product offering meets market/customer demands (product, quality, price)
  • Facilitate comprehensive technical audits of customers work processes using analytical tools, an in depth understanding of their process and how Linde's products can improve their productivity
  • Formalize and present productivity solutions and value-added alternatives to existing and potential customers
  • Works closely with the regional sales teams to carry-out the regional strategy, manage and track leads and develop accounts to ensure Linde is capturing all available business
  • Acts as a technical support specialist and application expert for the sales team
  • Inspires collaboration and team selling leveraging the sales team as well as other Linde assets to optimize business results
  • Develops deep relationships with key stakeholders across the customer organization and facilitates strategies to enable other Linde team members to do the same
  • Facilitate training seminars as well as hands on training & demonstrations for sales team and customers
  • Supports the management and mitigation of identified account risks with the sales team
  • Focuses on key performance indicators through management of various review functions
  • Drives compliance with safety, quality, and productivity goals in support of leadership objectives.

Required Qualifications

  • Welding engineering background that can do product demos and lead technical analysis with the customer such as welding process conversions
  • Product/category management experience
  • 5+ yrs. experience in a similar role and/or with field sales experience within the gas industry preferred
  • Strong knowledge of industrial gas applications across all industry segments
  • Fluent in French preferred
  • Functional skills: Selling and negotiations, Problem solving, Written and oral communication, Product/Process knowledge, Continuous learning, Time management, Customer Relationship Management, Planning and organizing, Critical and innovative thinking.
  • Ability to present to customers and lead professional presentations to all levels of an organization
  • Strong financial, analytical and business acumen required
  • Must be well organized and able to handle multiple priorities with time management proficiency
  • Advanced presentation and communication skills essential
  • Demonstrated track record of developing and executing customer/territory sales plans, deep customer insight, and knowledge of competitive landscape
  • Strong prospecting, negotiation, & closing abilities
  • Strong understanding of Excel and Microsoft Office Suite required
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, time management, and ability to meet assigned deadlines.
