Configuration Management Lead

Marshall Land Systems requires a Configuration Management Lead in Moncton, NB to join our team. Reporting to the Change Management & Support Services Manager, the Configuration Management Lead is responsible for overseeing the configuration management (CM) for all products and systems.
This role ensures that engineering changes and project configurations are tracked, controlled, and maintained in compliance with relevant industry standards and customer requirements.
Your responsibilities in this role:
- Administer the Product Lifecyle Management (PLM) engineering change process including workflow approvals, data validation and the archiving of artifacts.
- Organize and support Configuration Control Board (CCB) meetings.
- Lead and support the development of individual Configuration Management Plans (CMP), aligning regulatory and industry standards, program/customer requirements with company CM policy and process.
- Collaborate with external partners and customers to ensure that configuration management requirements are understood and met.
- Define and verify products and their configuration Items, ensuring all product configuration information is documented, changes are managed, and traceability is maintained throughout the product's life cycle.
- Develop and manage baselines for (product) systems and engineering data, ensuring proper version control and change management.
- Implement and maintain a configuration management database (CMDB) for tracking and storing configuration items.
- Manage as-built product configuration data using internal Configuration Management System (CMS) application.
- Manage changes to configuration items via a systematic, measurable change process.
- Support cross-functional teams with the identification, documentation, and resolution of configuration issues, risks, and changes.
- Work closely with design, engineering, procurement, and manufacturing teams to ensure configuration consistency and compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure all changes are assigned a unique identifier, ensuring robust and effective tracking from the request for change, the status of implementation and verification of the approved change.
- Provide regular Configuration Status Accounting (CSA) reports and performance metrics on configuration management activities to senior leadership and customers in accordance with operational requirements.
- Periodic assessment of the effectiveness of CM procedures and tools and of compliance with the Configuration Management plan(s) to maintain the health of the CM within the organization.
- Ensure that configuration management tools and systems are effectively utilized for managing configuration items.
- Conduct and document internal Configuration Management Audits.
- Develop and deliver CM-related training for staff and stakeholders, to ensure adherence to configuration control processes across the lifecycle of products and systems.
- Investigate, analyze and resolve process/systemic issues leveraging internal/corporate resources as required.
- Provide guidance and assistance to other employees on configuration management processes and systems.
- Other duties as assigned.
Apply if you have most of the following:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in Configuration Management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the defense, aerospace, or engineering sectors.
- Strong knowledge of configuration management principles, processes, and tools, with experience in complex systems integration and lifecycle management.
- CM2 Certification desirable.
- Experience with CM software tools (e.g., PTC Windchill, Teamcenter, or similar CM systems).
- Experience in leading Configuration Control Boards (CCBs) and managing change control processes.
- Strong knowledge of product lifecycle management (PLM) systems and document management.
- Expertise in relevant standards and regulations.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and stakeholders in a fast-paced, complex environment.
- Experience with risk management and problem-solving techniques.
- Ability to develop and implement training programs related to configuration management.
- Strong knowledge of document control and configuration data management practices.
Must be eligible to meet the requirements of export control regulations, including the Canadian Controlled Goods Program and Canadian government security requirements.
