Overview

Northwood Retirement Resort is a leader in the senior living industry within the Okanagan. We strive to make a positive impact in the lives of our residents on a daily basis while maintaining a great work life balance The Maintenance Supervisor, under the General Manager's direction, is responsible for the upkeep of the building, grounds, and equipment, ensuring high standards of appearance, safety, and functionality. This includes performing minor repairs, managing a Preventative Maintenance Program, grounds keeping, conducting fire inspections, and assisting with event setups. Additional duties involve inventory management, budget oversight, and fostering a positive team environment. The role also requires promoting resident dignity, supporting new staff onboarding, and completing other tasks as necessary. The successful candidate must have their own vehicle, a clear criminal record and great communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular inspections of facility equipment and systems to identify maintenance needs.
  • Day to day in-suite maintenance tasks for the residents of the building.
  • Season maintenance as needed.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues related to HVAC systems, low voltage systems, and other industrial equipment.
  • Follow preventive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
  • Coordinate with contractors and repairmen as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including repairs, inspections, and inventory management (including purchase orders).
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and promote a culture of safety within the maintenance team.

Experience

  • Proven experience in maintenance or a related field is required.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in troubleshooting HVAC systems and building equipment.
  • Proficient in English, both written and verbal communication skills are essential for effective team leadership.
