Pet Consultant / Dog Walker

Pickering & Ajax | Monday–Friday with occasional evenings/weekends

We are currently hiring a Pet Consultant to join our growing, dog-focused team in the Pickering/Ajax area.

This position requires the use of your own vehicle. You must be comfortable transporting dogs in your car. This is a mandatory requirement.

Position Responsibilities

Pick up and drop off dogs from clients' homes for walks and play groups

Secure clients' homes upon entry and exit

Follow special instructions and care requirements for each pet

Provide in-home pet sitting visits (ranging from early mornings at 7:30am to evenings up to 11:00pm)

Walk dogs outdoors in all weather conditions (15 minutes to 1 hour per walk)

Transport dogs to and from group play sessions when required

Provide exercise, potty breaks, love, and individualized attention

Ensure the safety of dogs, the public, and other animals at all times

Remove pet waste

Administer medication when required

Maintain control and leadership when walking multiple dogs

Take photos and/or videos of dogs for client updates

Refresh water, wipe paws, and provide treats

Communicate updates to management via text, including photos or videos

Record walk details (dogs walked, duration, and any concerns observed)

Track and submit work hours accurately

Ideal Candidate

Minimum 1 year of professional experience working with animals (dog daycare, professional dog walking, animal shelter, veterinary assistant, animal control, farm work, etc.)

Strong understanding of canine behaviour and body language

Confident handling large-breed, assertive, or challenging dogs

Physically fit and comfortable with a very active, outdoor job

Reliable, committed, and able to prioritize client dogs consistently

Must be bondable and willing to provide a criminal record check prior to starting (required due to entering clients' homes)

Compensation

75% of walk revenue for weekday walks

80% of walk revenue for evenings and weekends

Contractor position — you are responsible for your own gas and vehicle maintenance
