We are currently looking for a PART-TIME Human Resources Generalist to join our team. This role is responsible for providing a full range of HR services to support business strategy, including recruitment, training, onboarding, health and safety, performance management, payroll and benefits administration, and HR policy development and implementation. This role works closely with the management and supervisory team to build a positive, productive and committed culture that attracts and retains high performers to achieve business results.
Core Duties
Staffing, Onboarding and Training
- Assess current and projected staffing needs (including hourly and salaried staff) with the management team to meet business needs
Develop and implement a recruitment plan to attract qualified, motivated candidates
Prepare job postings, interview qualified candidates, check references, prepare job offers/employment contracts
Develop and implement an effective onboarding and training program tailored to each role
Ensure new hires are successfully onboarded, understand and are thoroughly trained in all aspects of their role, including health and safety, job duties, company procedures and protocols, working closely with Supervisors as required
Evaluate the effectiveness of the training provided to support high performance; provide support and coaching to Supervisors where warranted to ensure training is effective
Continually assess and strengthen the company's recruitment, onboarding and training practices
Compensation, Payroll, Benefits, and Employee Records
- Administer the Company's compensation and benefits programs as developed and as amended from time to time
Process bi-weekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees in an accurate and timely manner
Assist employees with payroll and benefit enquiries
Ensure employee records are accurate and up to date, including collecting and protecting the confidentiality of required personal information, tracking and monitoring sick time, vacation time, bereavement leave and other approved absences
Performance Management
Assist with the development and implementation of an effective Performance Management program, including:
Creating or updating job descriptions with clear performance objectives for each role
Implementing Performance Assessment process, once approved, and help coach supervisors in providing feedback and coaching
Support supervisors in addressing performance issues, help identify and remove obstacles to performance
Provide individual employee coaching and counselling as required to support high performance and retention
HR Policies and Procedures
- Oversee and enforce comprehensive HR policies that meet legislative requirements (e.g. Employment Standards Act, Access for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, Health and Safety, etc.) and reflects the company's culture and business practices
- Provide training to Supervisors and staff to ensure thorough understanding of HR policies and procedure
Culture
- Serve as a leader in developing and protecting a positive, supportive and professional work environment in which everyone is treated with dignity and respect
HR Program Development and Special Projects
- Develop and implement new HR programs and complete assigned special projects related to improving the overall performance and culture within the Company. Examples include employee recognition programs, employee engagement surveys, learning and development plans, and awards for employee-initiated improvement ideas.
Required Experience
Post-secondary degree with completion of professional courses in Human Resources
Certified Human Resources Professional designation (achieved or in progress) preferred
Min 5 years' experience in Human Resources in generalist positions in a manufacturing environment
