Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Claims Manager to join our team. This role is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of employee leave programs, including Workers Compensation claims, Short-Term Disability (STD), and other statutory and non-statutory leaves. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with applicable legislation, support employees through their leave journey, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate timely and effective case resolution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and coordinate all Workers Compensation claims, ensuring timely reporting, documentation, and follow-up.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employees, managers, and third-party providers regarding leave-related inquiries.
- Ensure compliance with provincial and federal legislation, including WSBC, WCB, WSIB, ESA, and Human Rights Code.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of all claims and leaves.
- Collaborate with HR Business Partners, Health & Safety, Payroll, Benefits, and Legal teams to ensure seamless case management.
- Monitor trends and provide regular reporting and analysis on claims and leave metrics.
- Develop and deliver training and resources to managers and employees on leave policies and procedures.
- Support return-to-work and accommodation processes in alignment with organizational policies and legal requirements.
- Lead investigations into culpable safety issues and develop fulsome reports required to successfully object claims when appropriate
- Manage decision appeals to the boards when required
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience managing disability claims, Workers Compensation claims, and employee leaves.
- Strong knowledge of applicable employment and health & safety legislation.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $70,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
