Job Summary
As a valued Retail Associate, you would be a key member of our team, responsible for delivering outstanding customer service, maintaining an organized and inviting store environment, and assisting customers with their product needs. You would play a vital role in ensuring the store's day-to-day operations run smoothly, from processing transactions and handling inventory to supporting visual merchandising efforts. Your positive attitude, attention to detail, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment would make you an essential part of the customer experience and the overall success of the store.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service
- Provide friendly and professional customer service by greeting customers warmly, actively listening to their needs, and offering tailored product recommendations.
- Address customer inquiries with accurate information, ensuring that all concerns are resolved in a timely and courteous manner.
- Ensure customers have a positive shopping experience, fostering repeat business and promoting customer loyalty.
Sales Floor Maintenance
- Keep the sales floor clean, organized, and visually appealing by ensuring products are properly arranged, shelves are stocked, and displays are updated according to store guidelines.
- Assist in setting up seasonal or promotional displays to attract customer attention and increase sales.
- Ensure products are labeled correctly and that any pricing discrepancies are addressed promptly.
Cash Handling & Transactions
- Accurately process customer purchases at the register, including handling cash, credit/debit transactions, and processing returns or exchanges.
- Maintain a balanced cash drawer and adhere to all cash-handling procedures to minimize discrepancies.
- Offer customers additional services, such as gift wrapping or loyalty program sign-ups, as needed.
Inventory Management
- Assist with inventory control tasks, including receiving shipments, unpacking products, and ensuring that stock is placed in appropriate locations on the sales floor or stockroom.
- Perform regular stock checks and report low or out-of-stock items to management to ensure stock levels are maintained.
- Organize and maintain the stockroom, keeping it clean and accessible for quick replenishment on the floor.
Product Knowledge
- Develop a deep understanding of the products sold in the store, including key features, benefits, and pricing, to confidently assist customers with their buying decisions.
- Stay informed about ongoing promotions, sales events, and new arrivals to effectively communicate to customers and drive sales.
- Use product knowledge to cross-sell or up-sell complementary items, enhancing the customer experience and boosting store revenue.
Team Collaboration
- Collaborate with team members and store management to ensure smooth store operations, including covering shifts, organizing promotions, and sharing customer feedback.
- Contribute positively to team dynamics by maintaining a friendly, supportive attitude and being adaptable to changing priorities and tasks.
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions to stay updated on new products, policies, and best practices.
Loss Prevention
- Actively observe customer behavior and be vigilant in identifying potential theft or suspicious activity.
- Follow all company loss prevention policies and procedures, ensuring store security measures are maintained at all times.
- Report any incidents of theft, damage, or security breaches to management promptly.
Adherence to Company Policies
- Ensure compliance with all store and company policies, including those related to health and safety, employee conduct, and customer service standards.
- Follow operational procedures for opening and closing the store, including locking up, setting alarms, and ensuring the store is ready for the next business day.
- Uphold high standards of professionalism and integrity, representing the store and the company in a positive light at all times.
Other Duties as Assigned
- Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as requested by store management to support store operations and ensure a smooth work environment.
- Adapt to changing business needs and take on special projects or tasks as needed, including assisting with special events or seasonal promotions.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; some post-secondary education is a plus.
- Previous experience in retail, customer service, or a related field is preferred but not required.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed to accommodate store schedules.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift and move merchandise (up to 30 lbs), and perform basic physical tasks associated with store maintenance.

- Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly and effectively interact with customers, team members, and management.
- Ability to maintain an organized, clean, and accurate sales floor, ensuring merchandise is displayed according to store standards.
- Capable of addressing customer concerns, resolving issues, and finding solutions in a timely and effective manner.
- Ability to work effectively with others in a collaborative and fast-paced environment, contributing to the overall success of the store.
- Willingness to learn new skills, adapt to changing store needs, and remain flexible with work tasks and responsibilities.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time efficiently, and complete duties in a timely manner during busy shifts.
- Experience with cash registers and point-of-sale systems, or the ability to quickly learn how to process transactions and handle money.
- Strong ability to keep track of inventory, manage stock replenishment, and ensure product displays are tidy and appealing.
- Understanding of basic loss prevention procedures and the ability to follow store policies to minimize theft and shrinkage.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
- Ability to work flexible and non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and special event days, depending on store needs and seasonal demands.
- Retail environment with varying levels of customer traffic, which may include peak times during holidays, sales events, and other high-traffic periods.
- The store environment may be busy and noisy, with background music, customer conversations, and register activity during peak hours.
- Must be open to working evening shifts, early mornings, or extended hours during special promotions, product launches, and seasonal periods.
- Regular interaction with team members and management; positive communication is key to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift, often on hard surfaces such as tile or concrete.
- ·Ability to lift and carry merchandise weighing up to 30 lbs. and assist with restocking shelves or moving inventory as needed.
Job Status: Part-Time, Seasonal, Fixed-term possibility of extension
