About the Role

As the first point of contact for the Information Technology (IT) department, the IT Support Coordinator provides technical support and performs proactive duties to support the Town's overall operations. This includes, but is not limited to, help desk support for users in relation to desktop software, hardware, applications, printers, telecom and mobile devices, as well as installations, upgrades, moves, and changes.

In addition to responding to service requests, the IT Support Coordinator helps monitor and maintain technology and licensing, supports 24/7 access to systems, creates and maintains documentation, trains staff, assists with responses to security incidents, and contributes to the reliability and connectivity of systems across all Town facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing help desk support for desktop software, hardware, applications, printers, telecom, mobile devices, and AV systems.
  • Administering user accounts, permissions, and system security across platforms, including the active directory, permissions, cloud services, and email.
  • Installing, maintaining, and documenting IT systems and equipment.
  • Making sure AV equipment is operational in Council Chambers and all meeting rooms.
  • Maintaining IT inventory, licensing, and documentation.
  • Conducting IT onboarding and offboarding orientations.
  • Triaging and escalating complex technical issues.
  • Collaborating with staff to resolve support requests and improve service delivery.

Minimal Qualifications

  • A degree in a relevant program or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certification in COMPTIA A+ or an acceptable equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years progressive experience in information technology support services.
  • Excellent ability to communicate and provide support to customers.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a criminal record check.

Supervision

The IT Support Coordinator is directly supervised by and reports to the Director of Corporate Services & Communications or designate.
