Reporting to the Group Leader of Total Rewards, the Payroll Administrator will be responsible and expected to engage in all aspects of the payroll process. This will include processing a weekly payroll, supporting and working within the Kronos timekeeping system, processing bonuses and off cycle payments, completing payroll year-end, supporting the payroll help counter/inquiries, and supporting special projects. The position will require you to work in a fast-paced and high-accuracy environment. You will be required to multi-task while dealing with various distractions and tight deadlines. The ideal candidate will have excellent teamwork skills and ability to adapt quickly.
Responsibilities:
- Process weekly and monthly payroll with a high accuracy level adhering to strict timelines.
- Process bonus and off cycle payments.
- Administer year-end statement reconciliation.
- Annual preparation of T4's and reconciling government remittances.
- Administer garnishments per legislative requirement.
- Assist Associates at the Help Desk and provide support to supervisors for payroll and hour's confirmation / inquiries.
- Conduct weekday and/or weekend work / orientations / training sessions.
- Process ROE's accurately within the required timeline per Service Canada guidelines.
- Prepare payroll documentation (letters of employment, third party income requests, etc.).
- Filing, data entry, and supporting pension and benefits activities as required.
Requirements:
- College Diploma or University Degree in Business Administration or Finance
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation or willingness to work towards.
- Minimum two (2) years of work experience processing a large volume payroll.
- Minimum one (1) year experience with ADP Workforce Now payroll applications
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint and HRIS systems – ability to organize and present high volumes of data
Preferred Experience:
- Previous work experience with Time and Attendance system (e.g. Kronos)
- Proven ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality
- Demonstrated sense of responsibility, strong work ethic, positive team attitude, attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
- Be a team player and demonstrate the ability to develop and sustain positive working relationships with all levels of Associates.
- Proven knowledge of payroll processes/theory and knowledge of all applicable laws and regulations governing employment
- Previous experience with PeopleSoft HRMS including creating and running queries.
- Demonstrated excellent organizational skills and work ethic with a desire to innovate, inspire, and complete quality work on time
- Detailed oriented and with an aptitude for working with numbers
- Ability to communicate and negotiate effectively with associates and stakeholders both verbally and written
- Experience facilitating/presenting to large groups
Must Haves:
- Willing and able to travel within North America by possessing a valid Canadian passport or B1 Visa
- Must have a valid G/G2 Driver's License
- Willing and able to work weekends and or overtime sometimes on short notice.
- Willing and able to work shut-down periods.
- Willing and able to support production
