Role Overview The National Operations Director will provide strategic, operational, and people leadership across the our Canadian operations footprint to ensure safe, compliant, efficient, and scalable delivery of regulated medical waste services. This role is accountable for national performance across safety, compliance, service, cost efficiency, and profitability, while enabling growth, standardization, and continuous improvement. What you will do?National Strategic LeadershipDevelop and execute the national operations strategy aligned with enterprise objectives and growth plansTranslate corporate strategy into scalable operational models, standards, and execution plansLead national change initiatives, transformation programs, and continuous improvement effortsSponsor and govern major operational investments, automation, and infrastructure initiativesPartner with Commercial, Finance, and Sales to support national growth and customer strategies National Operations ManagementProvide oversight and governance of all plant operations, transport networks, compliance and health & safety nationallyEnsure consistent execution of safety, environmental, and transport compliance standards across all regionsEstablish and enforce national operating standards, SOPs, and performance expectationsOptimize capacity utilization, asset performance, fleet efficiency, and cost structures nationallyOversee inventory, equipment, and infrastructure planning to support service delivery and growthOversee logistics and supply chain processes and procedures  Financial & Performance ManagementOwn national operating budgets, forecasting cycles, and consolidated P&L performanceDrive cost optimization, margin improvement, and productivity initiatives across the networkEstablish and monitor national KPIs across safety, compliance, service, efficiency, and financial performanceProvide regular performance reporting and insights to executive leadershipEnsure disciplined capital allocation and return on investment for capital purchases and operational initiatives People & LeadershipLead, develop, and coach regional and functional operations leadersBuild a strong national leadership bench through succession planning and talent developmentFoster a high-performance culture centered on safety, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvementAlign workforce planning, capability development, and engagement initiatives nationallyChampion consistent performance management, training, and onboarding practices  Business Improvement & Growth EnablementPartner with Regional and Local Managers of Plant Operations, Transport, Compliance, Health& Safety, Logistics & Supply Chain and Continuous Improvement to drive enterprise-wide improvementsLead cross-functional initiatives to enhance customer experience, DIFOT performance, and NPSSupport new market entry, facility start-ups, expansions, and acquisitions from an operational readiness perspectiveEnsure operational scalability and readiness to support commercial growth and new business rollouts Skills and Qualifications:12+ years of senior operations leadership experience across multi-site or national environmentsProven success with continuous improvement processes related to quality, cost savings and operational efficienciesProven national P&L ownership (>$100M preferred)Experience in regulated, asset-intensive, or logistics-driven industries strongly preferredDemonstrated success leading large-scale transformation and growth initiativesDeep understanding of safety, environmental, and transport regulatory frameworks $190,197 - $215,917 a year The listed pay range for this position may have a potential eligible bonus incentive. Actual compensation within this range will depend on factors unique to each candidate, such as prior experience, skill, certifications, and work location. Pay variations by location reflect local conditions and differences in the cost of labor.
