A Casual Educator Supply Staff is required to:

  1. Interact and communicate with the children in an appropriate manner.

  2. Provide supervision and guidance in various daily activities i.e. field trips, programming.

  3. Encourage healthy social interaction among the children by being an appropriate model.

  4. Emphasize each child's positive behaviour rather than concentrating on problems.

  5. Deal with child guidance with caring and patience in consultation with the Early Childhood Educator in the room.

  6. Be aware of the general health of each child during the scheduled shift and report any changes to the Early Childhood Educator in the room.

  7. Be aware and effectively respond to each child's special needs and restrictions in consultation with the Early Childhood Educator in the room.

  8. Actively participate as part of an educational team.

  9. Be familiar with policies, procedures and the curriculum.

  10. Be prepared to be able to cope effectively with emergency situations.

A Casual Kitchen Supply Staff is required to:

  1. To fill in for the full time cook or the assistant cook, as needed.

  2. To prepare lunch according to the menu as set out.

  3. To serve lunch to all groups of children on time, ensuring sufficient quantities.

  4. To ensure enough food supplies are on hand to meet the demands of the menu.

  5. To ensure proper storage of food, paper and cleaning supplies.

  6. To ensure all dishes and counter tops are kept clean and sanitary in accordance with Ministry of Health regulations.

  7. To ensure proper care and daily cleaning of kitchen appliances (fridge, stove, freezer, hot cart, dishwasher) and shelves, cupboards and walls.

  8. To record entries and deviations in the daily log and to have the log up to date for inspection.

  9. To prepare and set out morning snacks.

  10. To perform all of the above duties in accordance with the Ministry of Health Regulations i.e. proper hand washing, hygienic serving of food, apron to be worn, hair covered while preparing food.

  11. On select days, you may be assigned to provide coverage in a playroom for a one-hour period during the day. The hour covering will not interfere with lunch preparation, and we will ensure the assistant cook is available to continue with meal prep and dishes, to ensure you are not behind in your daily tasks. This is to support lunch break coverage for full-time staff when regular coverage is unavailable and additional support is required.
