The Indigenous Student Resource Centre (ISRC) is dedicated to ensuring all Indigenous students have their very best experience as they move through their post-secondary journey at Memorial University. The ISRC is situated on the St. John's campus and supports students by creating a welcoming community, providing an engaging and inclusive space, and offering an array of programs, services and resources. As well, the ISRC works collaboratively with other university units, university partners, and Indigenous communities and organizations, where relevant to Indigenous student success, to grow cooperative relationships rooted in mutual respect.

DUTIES

Reporting to the Manager of the ISRC, the Indigenous Student Wellness Navigator will develop and deliver a holistic Indigenous healing and wellness program for Indigenous students at the St. John's campus. The successful candidate will provide both virtual and in-person holistic practices, wellness interventions, and case management as needed; as well as develop and facilitate educational sessions related to holistic wellness and awareness for Indigenous students on campus. The Indigenous Student Wellness Navigator will be responsible for booking appointments with students, navigating referrals within the university and community-based resources for holistic health needs; utilizing a healthy campus and community model and working with various stakeholders and community agencies to identify and respond to the wellness needs of students; maintaining a level of professional knowledge and skills pertaining to case management; holistic health and wellness navigation; and performing other related duties and mediations as required by the ISRC.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience (minimum 3 years) in wellness, advising, or navigation roles with a focus on holistic health; completion of a Master's of Counselling Psychology degree, Master's of Social Work, or Master's of Nursing is required; or an equivalent combination of experience and training may be considered. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of the holistic needs and wellness of individuals, families, and communities; experience working with diverse populations, especially Indigenous populations, and knowledge of Indigenous cultures and histories in Newfoundland and Labrador. Experience in the development and delivery of wellness programming is essential, as is experience and training in wellness counselling, crisis and suicide intervention, mental health first aid training, and e-mental health online programming. Demonstrated experience working in an environment with an accessibility and inclusion lens, and managing complex student issues, including challenges related to equity, accessibility, mental health, and intercultural diversity, is required. Experience working with and/or within Indigenous communities and Indigenous student populations will be an asset.

SALARY $71,050 - $87,763 per annum (Management and Professional)
