Who We Are
You know those big cities that still feel like small towns? Where everyone's friendly and helps each other out? That's like Doane Grant Thornton. Except here we're all professionals and there isn't a mayor or a general store. What we're trying to say is that we're a large and growing professional services firm that still feels like a community. We employ about 3000 people across Canada, and we truly care about our colleagues, our clients and the communities where we work and live. That's what's most important to us. We're building a thriving organization that's purpose driven and still want to remember what your favourite milkshake flavour is.
As a Senior Specialist, Debt Solutions your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting the firm in the development and growth of its existing insolvency practice in your community and surrounding areas
- Knowledge and ability to assist in the training of colleagues
- Seek opportunities for efficiencies, or streamlining of processes to ensure better debtor and stakeholder experiences
- Showing an awareness of our Be, Grow, Think attributes through actions, behaviors and approach with the team and stakeholders
- Responding promptly to initial contact from debtors by telephone, email, etc.
- Conducting initial interviews and meetings with debtors, including doing the sign ups
- Timely follow up on potential debtors
- Input debtor documentation and workbook into firm software and prepare sign up documents
- Review files for comparison and appropriateness
- Ensure full compliance with the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act and directives in the delivery of service
- Building positive working relationships with debtors, referral sources, the Office of Superintendent (OSB) and all other stakeholders
- Assess clients' budget plans and financial goals
- Deliver an excellent and empathetic experience for the clients
- Communicating with clients, creditors and other third parties
- Monitor the status and progress of debt relief options and filings
- Review applications and inputting data into our computer system
- Other specialised requirements based on your role within the Debt Solutions team

And when all this comes together, well that's when the magic happens
