We're growing and we're looking for a detail-oriented, analytical Mortgage Underwriter who thrives on solving complex files and turning challenges into approvals.

The Opportunity

As a Mortgage Underwriter, you'll play a key role in assessing and structuring mortgage applications, ensuring compliance with FSRA, RECA, and FINTRAC requirements. You'll work closely with our agents and lenders to identify the most viable lending paths, craft strong submissions, and maintain a high standard of accuracy and efficiency across every file.

What You'll Do

  • Review and assess mortgage applications for completeness, accuracy, and alignment with lender and program guidelines.
  • Analyze income, credit, and supporting documents to evaluate client risk and eligibility.
  • Ensure compliance with FSRA (Ontario), RECA (Alberta), and FINTRAC regulatory requirements.
  • Identify potential roadblocks and propose creative, lender-specific solutions.
  • Stay current on lender programs, rate sheets, and underwriting policies.
  • Collaborate with mortgage agents, lenders, and management to gather additional information or documentation as needed.
  • Maintain detailed, organized records of all application stages, conditions, and decisions.

What You Bring

  • Previous experience in mortgage underwriting, file review, or document fulfillment within a brokerage or lender setting.
  • Strong understanding of credit, income verification, debt-service ratios, and risk assessment.
  • Familiarity with industry platforms: FINMO, Filogix Expert, Velocity, and Lender Portals.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Clear, professional communication and the ability to collaborate in a fast-paced, remote environment.
  • Working knowledge of lender policies, FSRA/RECA regulations, and FINTRAC compliance.
  • Mortgage Agent or Broker licence is an asset, but not required for this back-office role.
