The Manager, Learning Centre is a leadership role responsible for managing and enhancing the operations of our state-of-the-art Learning Centre—a cornerstone of our organizational learning strategy and employee value proposition. Working closely with the Vice President, Learning & Organizational Development (VP, L&OD), the Manager ensures the Centre delivers a seamless learner experience, operates at the highest standard, and serves as a hub for employee growth, collaboration and innovation.
It serves as the primary liaison between internal stakeholders to plan, allocate and optimize space for effective learning experiences as well as play an active part in building and sustaining external partnerships, revenue-generating opportunities, and branding initiatives that increase the Centre's visibility and impact.
Major Responsibilities:
Operational leadership and facility management:
Lead daily operations of the Learning Centre, ensuring efficient scheduling, facilities management, and service delivery.
- Liaise with internal and external partners to maintain high standards for technology, accessibility, and learner experience.
- Develop, implement and review standard operating procedures, processes, and preventative maintenance schedules to maximize Centre utilization and value.
- Conduct daily facility walk-throughs to inspect all training rooms, common areas, and support spaces, ensuring a clean, comfortable, and learner-ready environment, proper equipment function, and appropriate room set-up.
Oversee inventory management of learning supplies, technical equipment, and facility maintenance materials, responsible for the timely reordering of supplies.
Program implementation and support for learning strategy:
Partner with VP, L&OD and learning and development teams to translate learning strategies into well-executed programs and events.
- Provide insights and recommendations on opportunities to enhance the learner journey experience by analyzing current processes, identifying gaps, and implementing solutions that optimize workflows and resource utilization.
- Manage comprehensive scheduling of Centre training programs, room booking, and participants registrations while optimizing space utilization and preventing schedule conflicts by balancing competing priorities.
- Oversee the coordination of event logistics through efficient space planning and room bookings, gathering technology requirements, catering and transportation needs and participant registrations.
- Track, analyze and report on utilization rates, occupancy rates, etc., to make recommendations and optimize scheduling practices and improve learner experience.
Lead initiatives to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the learner experience by analyzing current processes, identifying gaps and implementing solutions that optimize workflows and resource utilization.
Partnerships and vendor management:
Build and nurture relationships with internal and external stakeholders, educational institutions, professional associations, and industry partners to expand the Centre's offerings.
- Serve as the main point of contact with internal stakeholders and external partners and vendors (catering, AV technology providers, cleaning services, hotel and accommodation partners, etc.) ensuring seamless operational support for all programs and events.
- Manage vendor contracts and lead requests for proposal (RFPs) for future vendor contracts for the Centre.
Work closely with Communications partners to position the Centre as a flagship for learning excellence as a hub for organizational and community impact, and support campaigns that highlight the Centre's role in attracting and retaining top talent.
Operational budget management and revenue development:
Manage and monitor the operational budget to ensure effective allocation of resources, cost control and alignment with WSIB's learning objectives.
- Oversee the accurate processing of invoices, ensuring compliance with contractual terms and requirements and maintaining accurate financial documentation of the Learning Centre's operational costs.
Identify and pursue revenue-generating opportunities such as facility rentals and co-branded learning events to maximize the centre's impact and financial sustainability, promoting the centre as a premier destination for learning and collaboration.
People and culture:
Lead and develop Centre staff, ensuring service excellence and a welcoming, inclusive environment.

Job Requirements:
- Education requirements:
Minimum Level Required
- Undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, Human Resources, Education or related field.
Preferred Level
Master's degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, Human Resources, Education or related field.
Experience:
Minimum Level Required
- 7 years' leadership experience in learning operations, conference/event management or facility operations, preferably in a learning or educational setting.
