Summary of Position

A cashier is responsible for providing outstanding customer service and is considered an ambassador to the store. Their enthusiasm and positive demeanor is welcoming to the customer and sets the tone for their relaxing, stress-free shopping experience. Cashiers quickly and accurately process sales and perform a variety of cash-related functions. They are constantly aware of their surroundings to not only ensure customers are being served in a timely manner, but to also maintain a tidy and professional work environment. Cashiers are very thorough; they inspect and question things that would have otherwise been overlooked. Customer service is their top priority and they always go above and beyond to exceed the customer's expectations.

Qualifications and Requirements

Ø Firmly understands all core company values, policies and procedures

Ø Strong mathematical background, preferably with cash handling experience

Ø Demonstrates superior customer service in both individual and team environments

Ø Personable and easily communicates with others

Ø Displays a positive and professional attitude

Ø Capable of heavy lifting and standing for long periods of time

Ø Maintains a flexible work schedule and can fulfill position's requirements

Ø Ability to understand and carry out oral and written communication

Ø Ability to perform routine, repetitive tasks on a continuous basis

Responsibilities & Expectations

Daily Routine

  • Opening procedure (15 min before opening hours)
  • Greet and thank customers
  • Conduct all daily responsibilities in an efficient, accurate and professional manner
  • Properly handle cash and receipts (transactions, cash-outs, etc.)
  • Complete till routines and other delegated tasks
  • Offer assistance whenever possible i.e. putting stock away, filling dump bins
  • Closing procedure
