Tea and Spice Specialist

G.E. Barbour Inc. is a multi-product food processor based in Sussex, New Brunswick, Canada famous for King Cole Tea, Barbour's spices and nut butters. Since 1867, G.E. Barbour Inc. has maintained the highest standards in product quality and customer service. We are in search of a Tea & Spice Specialist.

You will have a background in food procurement and operations with a passion for food/Tea. You will have strong communication skills and work well within a team. You will have experience in Tea Tasting to ensure organoleptic consistency of blends. You must have a keen interest in working in the commodities sector and a clear
passion
for everything tea and spice related

Responsibilities
:

·       Taste teas daily to ensure organoleptic consistency and quality of blends

·       Manage, negotiate, and procure raw material, packaging and ingredient contracts

·       Manage raw materials inventory levels for Tea and Spice

·       Forecast market trends and negotiate contracts

·       Developing long-term relationships with suppliers

·       Coordinate semi-annual competitive tea tastings to monitor competitive activity

·       Support for all areas of the tea and spice business to include product development

·       Report on KPI's in various weekly/monthly meetings

·       Participate in stock taking/inventory exercise.

Skills and Education:

·       Previous tea or coffee tasting/ procurement experience is ideal

·       Bachelor's degree or equivalent discipline

·       Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

·       Strong planning, time management and organizational skills

·       Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal

·       Cultural and commercial awareness

·       Highly self-motivated and adaptable

·       Work well under pressure

·       Proficient with Microsoft Office and Excel

About you:

·       Ideally, you have at least 2+ years of experience in the coffee/tea industry. But if you have beverage production or marketing experience outside this industry and have a passion to learn - let's talk

·       Tasting tea is a key part of the role so you need to have a clear
passion for everything tea
related

·       Have a natural curiosity for new and different foods and drinks

·       Willingness to learn and grow in the role
