Permanent Custodian
The Custodian, reporting to the Principal, is responsible for providing a safe and clean work environment for staff and students, by performing general cleaning and maintenance duties to the school property and grounds. This position is 36.25 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 3:00 PM to 10:45 PM, at St. Michael Catholic Secondary School, Stratford. The hourly wage is $25.29 per hour.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate cleaning equipment to remove scraps, dirt, heavy debris, etc.
- Wash windows, interior walls and ceilings.
- Empty trash cans and other waste containers.
- Sweep, mop, scrub and wax hallways, floors and stairs.
- Clean snow and ice from walkways and parking areas.
- Tend grounds and plants as required by the Principal.
- Clean and disinfect washrooms, lunchrooms and fixtures.
- Move furniture, equipment and supplies.
- May perform minor repairs as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous custodial and/or cleaning experience is required;
- Previous custodial and/or clearing experience in a school environment is an asset;
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform minor repairs;
- Ability to work as part of a team;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Proficient computer skills are required; experience with Google Workspace is an asset.
