We are accepting applications for the following permanent full-time 1.0 FTE Basic Custodian at the S.E.R.C. Centre in Stratford, Ontario. This position is located between Stratford District Secondary School and St. Michael's Catholic School.
Hours of Work:
40 hours per week, with a minimum ½ hour unpaid lunch break, for a total of 8.5 hours per day, 12 months per year. This position is the afternoon shift and is not part of the rotation at Stratford District Secondary School.
The successful applicant will take their direction from the BES Head Custodian at Stratford District Secondary School and reports directly to the Custodial Services Officer.
The Basic Custodian Duties May Include
Building Maintenance
- change lights
- shovel snow
- operate snow blower
- clean and inspect roof
- operate grass cutting equipment
- perform minor repairs
- conduct health and safety checks
- service roof top unit
Building Cleaning
- operate and maintain all equipment
- perform all minor and major cleaning
The Ideal Candidate Should Possess
- the ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb stairs, ladders and scaffolding;
- mechanical aptitude with experience in 1 or more of the trade disciplines e.g. plumbing, electrical, carpentry;
- exemplary interpersonal, professional and organizational skills;
- the ability to use a computer e.g. GAFE;
- experience in handling machinery i.e. buffing machine, lawn mowers, snowblowers;
- knowledge of proper usage of hazardous chemicals and cleaning supplies; and,
- satisfactory attendance will be a consideration when awarding this position.
Note - A criminal background check will be part of the recruitment process.
Compensation Package Details
Rate of Pay:
$26.10-$26.59 in accordance with the Basic Custodian grid, UNIFOR Collective Agreement
