Wage Rate: Up to $22.50 per hour

Hours of Work:

• Up to 40 hours per week – Dependent on program needs
• Orientation will take place on select evenings and weekends in May and June 2026
• Schedules/Dates are subject to change

The Opportunity

The City of Selkirk is currently in search of a Day Camp Leader to join our team. Under the direction of the Program Coordinator, the Day Camp Leader is responsible for the planning, organizing, safety, supervision, wellbeing and care of program participants at all times to provide a well-rounded program of recreation activities for those attending Day Camp.

Job Duties

1 - Administrative

• Maintain confidentiality and privacy in all matters affecting or involving the program and/or service.
• Complete reports on all activities as required.
• Submit time sheets as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned, consistent with this job description and approved program policies, standards

and procedures.

2 - Day Camp Program

• Assist in the development of program activities and implementation.
• Assist in the daily arrival registration and departure of camp participants.
• Assist in ensuring all necessary supplies are in place on a daily basis.
• Assist in the care, upkeep and storage of all equipment.
• Ensure participant welfare during all activities.
• Participate in games and activities.
• Responsible for knowing and observing all camp policies.
• Maintain a safe and clean environment.

3 - Perform other related duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications/Minimum Requirements

• Valid Emergency First Aid and CPR-C Certification
• Clear Current Child Abuse Registry Check
• Clear Current Criminal Record Check
• Experience working with children
• Possess skills in day camp programs (i.e. environmental, crafts, group recreation, special activities, etc.)

Comments

This is a Casual Non-Union position ranging from May to September 2026, working various hours up to 40 hours a week based on a flexible schedule.

This position will require working under adverse conditions in the course of carrying out duties including working in heat, cold, wind, rain, etc.

Due to the nature of the position, irregular working hours are required, including evening and weekend shifts, as the facility operates 7 days a week. This position will be required to work on Canada Day, August and September long weekends.

This position is excluded from the Collective Agreement and is open to all applicants. Applications will be accepted until February 20, 2026, at 4:00 p.m.

This position may be grant funded by the Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF). Priority may be given to those that meet the following grant eligibility:

• Current High School Student
• Students must have attended school full-time during the current academic year and be returning to school on a

full-time basis in the upcoming academic year (part-time & distance education students are not eligible)

• Red River Métis Citizen age 14+
• Proof of Red River Métis Citizenship (MMF Citizenship). Please indicate your Métis citizenship in your

application.

Student eligibility must be verified and confirmed by Metis Employment & Training (MET) prior to starting employment.
