TD's Analytics, Insights and Artificial Intelligence (AI2) team provides consultative support with data & analytics-based business insights and/or solutions to guide decision making and/or strategic planning. Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced and technical Senior Manager Data Scientist to join our People Analytics team within AI2. This role will drive advanced analytics, modeling, and data science initiatives that inform critical workforce decisions. This role blends hands-on technical expertise with strategic consulting, cross-functional leadership, and deep understanding of human capital data to produce actionable insights that shape talent, workforce planning and organizational effectiveness strategies.
You will be responsible for designing scalable analytical solutions, leading complex initiatives, mentoring a team of data scientists, analysts, and partnering with senior HR and business leaders to translate data into impact. You will be helping stakeholders turn complex challenges into data-driven solutions powered by predictive analytics, AI and machine learning.
You will collaborate closely with senior HR and business leaders to identify key workforce challenges, translate them into data-driven initiatives, and deliver actionable insights that balance business growth, regulatory compliance, and employee well-being.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Design, develop, and deploy advanced analytics and machine learning models for workforce planning, attrition, mobility, skills inference, performance etc.
- Apply time series analysis, clustering, NLP, optimization techniques and scenario modeling to people related datasets
- Build and automate scalable analytical pipelines using Python, SQL and modern data frameworks
- Partner with data engineering to productionalize models and ensure sustainability and monitoring
- Drive best practices around data quality, documentation, reproducibility, privacy and ethical AI
- Ensure compliance with data governance, security, and privacy standards with the strong ability to drive use cases through stakeholders for approval
- Establish analytical standards, code quality practices, and methodological rigor across the team
- Build data science capability within HR and the broader organization
- Design and deliver analytics and AI insights into key HR programs (e.g., succession planning, DEI, attrition risk, skills forecasting).
- Build strong relationships with partners to understand key stakeholder business problems, develop hypotheses for testing and interpret analytics with confidence
- Measure impact and drive continuous improvement using workforce KPIs.
- Enable stakeholder self-service through dashboards and repeatable insight assets.
- Work with implementation experts to devise business-applicable plans to ensure that sophisticated analytics translate into impact at scale in an organization
Job Requirements:
- Master's or PhD in Data Science, Statistics, Math, Engineering, Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 10+ years of experience in data science/advanced analytics, with at least 3+ years in a leadership role - preferably in financial services.
- Demonstrated experience leading people analytics or workforce strategy projects with measurable business impact.
- Advanced proficiency in Python, R, SQL, Tableau/Power and cloud data environments (e.g., Workday, Databricks) is an asset.
- Strong understanding of statistical modeling, machine learning, and experimental methods
- Excellent communication, facilitation, influence skills
- Understanding of regulatory, data governance, and privacy considerations in a highly regulated industry.
- Solid understanding of business requirements and vernacular; know the language of business
- Desire to ask questions and get a deeper understanding of issues; confidence to challenge perceptions and biases of individuals at every level of the organization
- An in-depth understanding of the specific industry of the company and organizational challenges to effectively identify the value analytics in the business context
