Position Overview

The Shop Labourer is responsible for assisting HD Mechanics onsite with shop tasks, including cleaning company vehicles using a pressure washer and maintaining the fleet by removing dried concrete and assisting mechanics. Key duties include general site cleanup, supporting the fleet team, and adhering to safety policies. Candidates should have a valid driver's license, previous labor experience, and the ability to lift 50 lbs, with safety certifications being an asset. Dependability, attention to detail, and a safety-conscious mindset are essential attributes.

Responsibilities  

• Aiding the HD Mechanic team onsite, organizing the shop environment, staging equipment and other shop tasks as assigned.
• Assisting in the safe movement of HD Mechanic equipment into and out of the shop, acting as a spotter for equipment operators.
• Cleaning and rebuilding Enviro Box system, performing inventory counts on relevant parts and tools.
• Assisting the parts department in making parts pickups and deliveries.
• Use of pressure wash to clean company fleet vehicles.
• Use of jackhammer to chip/remove dried concrete.
• General manual labour to support mechanics and fleet team members.
• Maintain a clean and safe working area.
• General site clean up including shoveling, sweeping, transporting/relocating equipment, etc.
• Participate in all safety policies and procedures including attending safety meetings, assessing and identifying hazards, maintaining a safe work environment, etc.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Valid class 5 drivers license and clean drivers abstract.
• Previous labourer experience, preferably working in a manufacturing, production, or construction environment.
• CSTS certification is an asset.
• WHMIS training is an asset.
• First aid training is an asset.
• The ability to lift 50 lbs unassisted.

Hours of Work

Working 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday 12PM to 8:30PM, occasional Saturday hours required.

Work Environment

• An outdoor and indoor environment, working conditions will be subject to weather conditions.
• When working indoors, work will primarily be completed in a shop environment working along side mechanics as mixer trucks are repaired.
• This position is physical in nature and requires bending, crawling, crouching, and standing for long periods of time.
