Job Summary
Reporting directly to the President & CEO, the Chief Financial Officer is responsible for directing the overall financial management of the company and will support the development and execution of business and financial strategies that are aligned with the growth goals of the organization. The successful leadership candidate will have extensive management experience in a similar field with demonstrated strategic and analytical capabilities.
In addition to the strategic components, the CFO will be charged with developing and implementing policies and processes in the finance and operational realms. This is an outstanding opportunity for a finance executive with start up experience and a proven track record of problem-solving and change management to join a fast-growing organization.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, direction and management of the finance and accounting team.
- Strategically manage and advise on M&A decisions and outline the impact and overall success to the business.
- Assist in formulating the company's future direction and supporting tactical initiatives.
- Develop financial and tax strategies.
- Prepare all company's financial statements and notes in compliance with financial regulations and standards and IFRS, including MD&A, Info Circular and AIF.
- Ensure the creation and preparation of budgets; complete monthly variance reports and monitor costs against budgets and variance reporting and analysis.
- Advising on long-term business and financial planning.
- Monitor the financial performance and cash position of the company.
- Oversee accounts payables and receivables with follow ups for outstanding receivables and any collections.
- Act as a key contact for accounting firm with respect to all financial reporting and corporate tax reporting.
- Review all formal finance, HR and IT related procedures.
- Ensure compliance with IIROC policies and procedures.
- Maintain strong internal controls and establish accounting policies and procedures for credit and collections, purchasing, payment of bills, and other financial obligations.
- Establish and maintain lines of communication with investors and investment institutions, financial analysts, and shareholders in conjunction with the President.
- Administer banking arrangements and loan agreements and maintain adequate sources of capital for the company's current borrowings from commercial banks and other lending institutions.
Education and Experience
- At least 5 years of experience in a supervisory/management capacity.
- Proven track record of financial leadership with a public company.
- Experience developing and executing on an aggressive strategic growth plan.
- Experience in the real estate industry is important.
- Strong knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- University degree in Finance.
- CPA accounting designation or MBA required.
- Knowledge & proficiency with Microsoft Dynamics 365 an asset
