Summary

We are recruiting for an Application Specialist (Sales) on our Valve, Actuation and Measurement Instrumentation team in Burnaby, BC, on a 12-month temporary basis.

Reporting to the Manager, Application Specialists, this is an excellent opportunity to expand your knowledge of the process control industry and hone your customer service skills.

Working alongside Application Specialists in this technical sales role, you will gain insight into a variety of industries (e.g., pulp & paper, mining, oil & gas) and their unique process control requirements. Our Application Specialist team consists of individuals who specialize in provide customers with application, instrumentation, and process solutions by way of sizing & selecting control valves, specifying measurement devices (e.g., pressure, temperature, flow, pH, etc.) and making recommendations for manual and automated on/off valves.

Role and Responsibilities
  • Assist Application Specialist team in proposal creation and execution for small and large-scale projects
  • Respond to incoming customer inquiries for technical information and quotations
  • Evaluate process requirements and budgets to develop technical solutions
  • Use Spartan's business system to size and select equipment and generate quotations and proposals
Qualifications and Skills
  • Engineering Degree or Technologist Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or equivalent
  • Proficient with MS Office programs; Word, Power Point, Excel
  • Strong technical problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated customer service and sales skills an asset
  • Ability to develop and foster relationships with coworkers and customers
  • Customer-centric mindset and collaborative team player
  • Excellent communication, planning, scheduling, prioritization, and time management skills
  • High degree of dependability and reliability
  • Detail oriented
  • Entrepreneurial work ethic
