Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for a High School English/Social Studies Teacher at CIH Academy, located in Rockland, ON. The teacher will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging and educational lessons in English and Social Studies, assessing and evaluating student performance, and fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment. Additional responsibilities include creating lesson plans in alignment with curriculum standards, providing individual support to students, and maintaining open communication with parents and colleagues to support student success.

Qualifications

  • Expertise in English and Social Studies instruction, including curriculum planning and lesson delivery
  • Strong skills in assessment, evaluation, and providing constructive feedback to students
  • Ability to create an inclusive, engaging, and supportive learning environment
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills with students, parents, and colleagues
  • Organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple tasks and priorities
  • Bachelor's degree in Education or related field; teaching certification or licensure is preferred
  • Prior teaching experience in English and/or Social Studies at the high school level is preferred
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and staying updated on educational trends
  • An understanding of diverse learning needs and strategies to support individual student growth

About the Role:

  • Start Date - As soon as possible
  • Small classrooms with an average of 10-15 students: enhanced student engagement & interactions; less administrative work (i.e. report cards, marking)
  • Academic calendar: Semester 2 from Jan - Mid May
  • Educate students focused on academic success and with strong parental support
  • Autonomy for your individual teaching structure and style
  • Supportive colleagues and leadership
  • Dynamic hockey campuses with a unique building, atmosphere & learning environment
  • Ability to coach hockey, while not required is an advantage
