Duration: 12 Months + Possible Extension
Client: Public Sector
Pay Rate: C$75-C$85/hr
 

Role Overview
The Business Intelligence Analyst will support evidence-based decision-making by transforming procurement, contract, financial, and market data into meaningful insights. The role focuses on developing analytics, dashboards, and reporting products that enable internal stakeholders to make informed decisions based on reliable and timely data.

The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams and utilize tools such as
Power BI
,
SQL
,
SAP
, and
Alteryx
to build and optimize business intelligence solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Business Intelligence & Reporting

  • Develop BI work products using diverse data sources, including procurement, contracts, finance, and market data.
  • Analyze complex datasets and prepare results that translate into actionable insights.
  • Build and optimize dashboards, visualizations, and reports that are easy to understand and support operational and strategic decisions.
  • Perform data quality audits, data profiling, statistical analysis, and data mining.

Requirements Gathering & Documentation

  • Gather, validate, and document business and technical requirements.
  • Create BI specifications and maintain metadata for information products.
  • Document requirements for governance processes such as scheduling, status reporting, issues, risks, and change management.

Solution Design & Development

  • Develop BI solutions using Power BI, SQL technologies, Power View, and Analytical Services.
  • Apply expertise in ETL concepts, dimensional modeling, relational modeling, and data warehousing best practices.
  • Optimize the performance, usability, and scalability of BI solutions.

Quality Assurance & Delivery

  • Ensure all deliverables meet quality standards and are completed on schedule.
  • Conduct thorough quality assurance checks on BI deliverables.
  • Respond to ad-hoc data and reporting requests.
  • Identify, track, and escalate issues and risks as needed.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work effectively in a multi-team and multi-vendor environment.
  • Communicate technical concepts clearly with non-technical stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with diverse groups to refine BI requirements and ensure alignment with business needs.

Must-Have Requirements
Minimum 4 Years Experience in Each of the Following:

  • Communicating and translating technical concepts for non-technical audiences (written and verbal).
  • Working with data concepts such as ETL, ODS, OLTP, and related architectures.
  • Presenting data through reports, dashboards, and visualizations.
  • Designing, developing, and optimizing complex
    Power BI
    solutions.
  • Creating and implementing business intelligence requirements.
  • Using dimensional modeling techniques.
  • Working in a BI/data warehouse or related data environment (development or support).
  • Using
    Microsoft SQL
    for data querying and manipulation.
  • Working with
    Power BI
    ,
    Power View
    ,
    SQL Reporting Services (SSRS)
    , and
    SQL Analytical Services (SSAS)
    .
  • Applying relational database modeling techniques.
