Client Delivery within Global Wealth Management Technology is looking for a Senior Manager, Development who is responsible for the engineering execution and delivery of technology solutions. This team is engaged in modernization some of the strategic applications in GWMT. This role will be responsible for building a modern suite of apps for one of the wealth business lines, replacing a legacy system with a modern user interface, workflows and APIs integrating with multiple internal and external applications. Applications interfacing are a mix of inhouse and third-party applications. Reporting to the Director & Head, Client Delivery, the Senior Manager will be responsible for the strategic direction, leadership and oversight of the department he/she owns and ensure business and technology strategies, plans and initiatives are executed and delivered in compliance with governing regulations, and internal policies and procedures. The Senior Manager's role includes building technology expertise within the team, ensuring business requirements are evaluated and estimated timely and prioritized for delivery, and safeguard resiliency and stability of the applications.

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

  • Leads and drives a client focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge
  • Play a leadership role in driving complex technology program which consist of multiple phases for multiple business partners and stakeholders that involves different technology teams across the enterprise and a mix of old and new Software Product Vendors
  • The incumbent will be responsible for managing resources, strategic direction, and ensure alignment of business technology roadmaps
  • Passionate for building new solutions and works with the different architects/teams in the Bank to help build modern solutions utilizing the best-in-class software engineering principles
  • A great People Manager that can lead a team efficiently and bring out the best from the team
  • Promotes collaboration and ensures new ideas from the team members and ensure opportunities are provided to the team members to exhibit their potential
  • Responsible for estimates on all intakes coming to this team
  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

  • The incumbent must have at least 15+ years of IT and business/industry work experience.
  • Should have lead projects using Agile Methodology or a Hybrid (waterfall and Agile) that can work for the situation
  • Business knowledge and experience (understanding of vision, financial objectives/how business functions and core processes interact/the strategic importance of projects, how they relate to Scotiabank's goals, how projects interact/impact of change and/or delays in projects).
  • In-Depth Experience of Development and/or Architecture in Java technology area and exposure to others
  • Familiarity and experience with Java Spring boot and React framework is preferred
  • Process knowledge and experience in scheduling, resource allocation, risk management and systems design.
  • Critical thinking, continuous improvement and transformation in leading the group delivering high performance while aligning to group and Bank's strategic direction.
  • Experience in the project management of highly complex technology projects.
  • Experienced in dealing with Product Vendors including an enriching experience with first-time implementation of the product within the enterprise
  • Experience in collaborating with different stakeholders and different technology teams and ensuring they are aligned at the program level
  • In-depth knowledge of the principles, theories, practices and techniques for managing the activities related to planning, managing and implementing software projects and programs.
  • The incumbent will have a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science / Computer Engineering
