Your Day To Day
The Accounting Assistant will, at various times, be responsible for the following duties, as well as other related tasks as assigned to support the business objectives and purpose of the company:
- Perform day-to-day administrative functions related to student disbursements.
- Print and mail cheques to vendors or campuses and file supporting documents.
- Enter data into the accounting system on a daily basis.
- Maintain a control log of cheques issued.
- Coordinate with campuses to reconcile discrepancies.
- Follow up with Financial Administrators regarding discrepancies in reports and ensure data accuracy.
- Monitor business-related financial transactions to ensure timely and accurate postings and recordkeeping.
- Maintain up-to-date filing systems.
- Provide support to the Finance Operations Manager and offer administrative assistance to all members of the Finance Operations and Accounting department.
- Perform routine clerical duties across various administrative functions.
- Assist with special projects as required.
- Carry out additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
*What You Bring to the Table:
Education and Experience:*
- Basic accounting knowledge through completion of introductory accounting courses and/or at least one year of office/accounting experience.
Skills And Competencies
- Understanding of basic accounting principles and practices.
- Strong keyboarding and numerical data entry skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Familiarity with office equipment such as fax machines and photocopiers.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to focus and maintain consistency when performing repetitive tasks.
- Ability to work independently under general supervision.
- Good judgment and ability to prioritize tasks.
- Capacity to perform well under pressure and remain composed during busy periods.
- Professional attitude and appearance with a commitment to quality service.
