Overview
Looking for an experienced store leader in Edmonton with hands‑on construction/renovation experience and a strong interest in interior decoration and design. This role starts as Store Manager and can grow into a business partner/owner position as we open new locations. The ideal candidate will have a passion for design, excellent communication skills, and the ability to transform spaces into aesthetically pleasing environments. This role involves working closely with clients to understand their vision, selecting decor materials, and managing projects from concept to completion. The position offers an opportunity to showcase your artistic talents while providing exceptional customer service in a fast-paced retail or design setting.
Responsibilities
- Oversee day‑to‑day store operations: opening/closing, cash, staff scheduling, and customer service.
- Coordinate small construction, renovation, and store‑fit‑out projects with trades and suppliers (layouts, finishes, fixtures).
- Plan and approve interior décor: colour schemes, materials, displays, and overall store look and feel.
- Manage inventory, ordering, and merchandising to match the design concept and sales goals.
- Hire, train, and lead the team to deliver great service and meet sales and profit targets.
- Help evaluate and prepare new locations for opening (layouts, timelines, budgets, contractors).
- Collaborate with clients to determine their interior design preferences, needs, and budgets
- Develop detailed design plans, mood boards, and presentations that align with client visions
- Manage merchandising displays to enhance store presentation and promote sales
- Oversee store operations including POS transactions, cashiering, and inventory management
- Lead and supervise team members in retail sales, customer service, and store management activities
- Conduct training & development sessions for staff on product knowledge, sales techniques, and customer engagement
- Implement marketing strategies to attract new clients and retain existing ones
- Handle administrative tasks such as bookkeeping, budgeting, payroll processing, and record keeping
- Maintain excellent communication with clients, vendors, and team members throughout all project phases
Skills
- 3+ years of store, showroom, or project site management (retail, construction supply, décor, or similar).
- Proven experience in construction or renovations (reading basic plans, working with contractors, understanding materials).
- Strong interest or background in interior decoration/interior design (showroom, décor sales, or portfolio is an asset).
- Comfortable with budgets, timelines, and coordinating multiple projects at once.
- Entrepreneurial mindset and serious interest in ownership or profit‑sharing.
- Strong negotiation skills with clients
- Bilingual or multilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse clientele
- Proven experience in retail sales, merchandising, or store management
- Supervising experience with team management capabilities
- Proficiency in POS systems, cash handling, and cashiering procedures
- Excellent customer service skills with professional phone etiquette
- Effective marketing knowledge to promote services and products effectively
- Organizational skills for managing multiple projects simultaneously within deadlines
- Time management expertise to prioritize tasks efficiently
- Administrative experience including bookkeeping, payroll, budgeting, and training & development
- Leadership qualities with the ability to motivate teams and foster a collaborative environment
- Strong communication skills for client consultations and team coordination
- Math skills necessary for pricing strategies and financial calculations

Pay: $35,571.14-$184,115.81 per year
