The Opportunity

We're seeking HVAC Technicians — both experienced Apprentices and licensed Journeypersons — to join our growing Heating & Cooling Division at DNM Group. This position plays a key role in delivering high-quality installation, service, and maintenance of HVACR systems across residential, commercial, and light industrial environments. Whether you're a certified Journeyperson or an Apprentice who's already gained practical field experience, you'll be part of a team that values professionalism, safety, and technical excellence. Our ideal candidates take pride in their work, have strong mechanical aptitude, and are eager to continue developing their craft within a supportive, team-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities

Installation & Commissioning

  • Install, service, and commission HVACR systems, including furnaces, air conditioners, rooftop units, heat pumps, and ductwork.
  • Assist with or independently complete layout, measurement, cutting, and assembly of pipes, fittings, and ducting according to specifications.
  • Verify system performance through testing, balancing, and commissioning procedures.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings accurately.

Maintenance & Repair

  • Perform or assist with preventive maintenance on HVAC systems, including cleaning coils, changing filters, and inspecting electrical components.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults under supervision or independently (depending on experience).
  • Conduct system checks, component replacements, and repairs to maintain operational efficiency and compliance.
  • Maintain clear documentation and service records through DNM's electronic reporting tools.

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all DNM and OHSA safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with Ontario Building Code, TSSA, and CSA standards.
  • Use appropriate PPE and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, and mandatory training.

Teamwork, Mentorship & Communication

  • Collaborate closely with Field Supervisors, Journeypersons, and other trades to ensure smooth project delivery.
  • Journeypersons: mentor apprentices by providing technical guidance, safety instruction, and quality oversight.
  • Apprentices: demonstrate initiative, accountability, and growth through hands-on participation.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with clients, providing courteous and knowledgeable service.

What You Bring

Apprentice Technicians:

  • Active or eligible registration with Skilled Trades Ontario as a 313A (Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic) or 313D (Residential Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic).
  • Prior HVAC field experience required, familiarity with installation, service, or maintenance of HVAC systems.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of trade fundamentals.
  • Reliable, safety-minded, and eager to grow within a professional, multi-trade environment.
  • Valid Ontario G-Class Driver's License and clean abstract.
  • Working at Heights, WHMIS, and First Aid certifications required.

Journeyperson Technicians:

  • Valid Certificate of Qualification (C of Q) as a 313A Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic.
  • Minimum 5 years of HVAC experience (including apprenticeship).
  • Valid G2 Gas Technician License required; G1 considered an asset.
  • Ozone Depletion Prevention (ODP) certification required.
  • Strong technical proficiency in diagnostics, repairs, and system commissioning.
  • Proven ability to mentor apprentices and uphold DNM's quality and safety standards.
