The Estimator – Construction will be instrumental in preparing accurate cost estimates for construction projects by analyzing drawings, specifications, proposals, and other documentation.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

The Estimator – Construction is an integral part of the Landmark team and will work closely and develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders. The Estimator plays a key role in supporting project bids, budgeting, and pre-construction planning and will work closely and develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders. This position is based in Salmon Arm, with the potential for some travel to view out of town projects. Duties and Skills include but are not limited to:

Specific Skills and Knowledge

  • Review project plans, specifications, and other documents to prepare detailed cost estimates.
  • Solicit and analyze quotes from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Perform quantity take-offs and pricing for materials, labor, and equipment.
  • Develop and maintain estimating tools, databases, and historical cost data.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to develop and refine budgets.
  • Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and value engineering alternatives.
  • Participate in bid reviews and prepare submission documents for tenders.
  • Track and update estimates through project development phases.
  • Assist in project risk analysis and contingency planning.

  • Commitment to safety

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to develop relationships

  • Work well in a team environment

  • Projects are located throughout western Canada and candidate must be willing to travel to project sites, as required
  • Valid BC Class 5 Driver's License with clean driving record and the confidence to drive safely in a variety of road conditions

  • Other combinations of experience and education will be considered

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Diploma or degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of estimating experience in the construction industry (civil, industrial, or commercial preferred).
  • Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, Maestro, HeavyBid, MS Excel).
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and codes.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities.

  • Ability to work independently and under tight deadlines

Preference will be given to those candidates with the following:

  • Gold Seal Certification or equivalent designation is an asset.
  • Familiarity with contract types and procurement processes.
  • Experience with scheduling software (e.g., MS Project or Primavera P6)
