Ophthalmic Technician

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Ophthalmic Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess technical skills and have strong interpersonal skills to work in a small team environment. Prior experience is a big plus but we will train the right candidate as we are looking for a good fit with the team.
Responsibilities
- Perform preliminary eye exams and diagnostic tests to assist the ophthalmologist in evaluating patients' vision and eye health.
- Document patient history and symptoms accurately in electronic medical records.
- Assist with the management of patient flow in the clinic, including front desk duties such as scheduling appointments and answering inquiries.
- Educate patients on pre-operative and post-operative care instructions as well as general eye health.
- Maintain and clean ophthalmic equipment to ensure optimal functioning.
- Provide optical assistance, including fitting and dispensing eyewear when necessary.
- Collaborate with team members to enhance patient care and streamline clinic operations.
Qualifications
- Previous medical office experience is preferred, particularly in an ophthalmology or optometry setting.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records systems; experience with Plexia
- Strong background in patient care, demonstrating empathy and effective communication skills.

- Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment while maintaining professionalism at all times.
- This is a fast paced position with high patient volume. Must be able to multitask and have a willingness and desire to learn new skills.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $24.00-$27.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
