About Your New Role
Reporting to the Supervisor, Maintenance, the OJT Maintenance Trainer will prioritize in field and on the job training for the department while collaborating closely with team members to support training programs and maintain accurate documentation. This role works directly with the Maintenance team and is responsible for delivering mechanical support and expertise across all underground and surface operations.
The position requires comprehensive knowledge of the maintenance and repair of mining equipment, as well as the initiative to perform effectively in a challenging environment with minimal supervision. Using both technical and practical expertise, the OJT Maintenance Trainer will follow instructions, apply information from shop and assembly manuals, and adhere to all health and safety standards established by SSR Mining.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Take active approach to ensuring the health and safety of all Seabee employees in accordance with all regulatory agencies as well as the policies, procedures, and goals of Seabee Gold Operation
- Determine training objectives through coordination with maintenance management.
- Develop, review, maintain and make corrections as needed to training SOP's and training programs that support business objectives and strategic vision.
- Develop, review, maintain and make corrections as needed to maintenance SOP's and PM job plans that support business objectives and strategic vision.
- Assist with development, reviews, and maintaining an annual training budget.
- Maintain accurate training records for the mobile maintenance group. Records will include training hours conducted, tasks trained, field observations of technicians.
- Conduct field training for new hires.
- Conduct task observations to ensure employees are performing their assigned task in a safe and efficient manner.
- Conduct refresher training in the field for experienced mechanics to increase their mechanical efficiencies.
- Coordinate, participate and promote vendor specific training.
- Review sign-off with trainee and supervisor to ensure quality and consistency in training.
- Participate in and promote safety programs such as workplace inspections and field level risk assessment.
- Demonstrate a willingness to expand knowledge in the training field by pursuing further skills enhancement training.
- Repairing the surface and underground mechanical equipment in a timely and financially responsible manner.
- Responsible for troubleshooting and inspecting equipment to detect faults and malfunctions.
- Test repaired equipment for proper performance.
- Clean, lubricate, and perform other maintenance work.
- Any other duties as assigned by the department.
- Daily expectations are 70% field repairs and training work, 30% office work.
Required Skills
- Ability to lead and work in a team-oriented environment and support a 24/7 operation in strenuous physical condition both indoors and outdoors.
- Demonstrated leadership and teambuilding skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal, with various individuals, crews, departments and organizational levels.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to plan, direct, and supervise the work of others.
- Capable of working independently with minimal supervision as well as within a team environment.
- Must have demonstrated exceptional mobile maintenance skills on a multitude of mine equipment.
- Clear understanding and willingness to observe and practice company SOP's and policies.
- Detailed knowledge of mobile maintenance concepts, practice, and procedures.
- Demonstrated ability and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Your Education And Experience
The successful candidate will have:
- Five (5) years' experience in a mine maintenance environment required.
- Red Seal Journeyperson Heavy Duty Ticket.
- Ability to read and understand hydraulic and electrical schematics to assist troubleshooting required.
- Ability to read and understand maintenance manuals to assist troubleshooting is required.
- Strong computer skills to assist trouble shooting using OEM software and websites preferred.
- Experience with Cummins, Cat, and MTU/Detroit engines is desirable.
- Strong computer skills for admin tasks (email, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) preferred.
- Individuals with strong experience in leadership or supervision required
About Our Working Conditions
This position has a schedule of 1 weeks on, 1 weeks off at our remote camp which you will be required to fly in fly out with pick up points in Saskatoon, Prince Albert and La Ronge.
