Paladin is hiring casual event security officers to work at various locations around the Halifax Regional Municipality, including sporting events held at Saint Mary's University

Position Details:

Position:  Casual Security Guard
Site: Various
Overtime: Overtime after 48 hours
Hours: As needed
Payrate: $16.50
Posting Date: December 1, 2025
Internal Closing Date: January 31, 2026
External Closing Date: January 31, 2026


Key Responsibilities:

Patrol the building, facilities and exterior grounds Respond to incidents and play an active role in all emergency situationsConduct investigations re: thefts, break and enter, suspicious persons, accidents, vandalism, etc and complete incident reports, occurrence logs or appropriate documentationComplete door locks/unlocks as required; monitor for unsecure doorsEnforce Saint Mary's Smoke-Free Campus and Tabacco Use Policy and document all non-compliance.Provide assistance, as necessary, to community members'Assist in orientation and training of new security personnel, as required.Provide First Aid response.Monitor surveillance cameras, as required.Other related duties and assignments, as delegated by the University Security Manager.Parking Duties may be required.


Prerequisites:

Valid Security License for the province of Nova ScotiaValid First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a CSA-approved vendor)Valid Driver LicenseEnglish (oral and written) fluency is a mustPrevious experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the positionPlease be aware: The UoF/MOAB training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite; however, Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
