Position Description

Primary intent of this employee search is to find a strong, practical individual with primary responsibilities of providing geotechnical engineering design services on a variety of geotechnical projects. Initial duties for this ambitious individual will include exposure to the field aspects of the profession (drilling supervision, construction monitoring and inspection) and within a relatively short timeframe, independent project and client management.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide technical services in a field and office environment
  • Ability to work on geotechnical assignments of varying complexity and type
  • Scoping, management and processing of geotechnical site investigations
  • Preparation of job quote proposals
  • Scoping, management and processing of construction inspection works
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Job Requirements

  • Post-graduate degree with stellar academic record and at least 5 years of experience in a consulting geotechnical environment.
  • Willing to work on a combination of field and office work
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with common geotechnical and other software
  • Excellent report writing and verbal communication skills in English
  • Ability to solve problems in a rational and timely fashion and as required, enact solutions in a confident, independent and responsible manner
  • Familiarity with soil and rock geological processes, especially glacial
  • Well organized, enthusiastic, resourceful and detail oriented
  • Pro-actively respond to time-sensitive issues
  • Willing to undertake occasional out of town assignments of varying lengths
  • Valid Ontario Driver's License and full time access to a reliable vehicle
