As the Electrical and Instrumentation Reliability Group Leader, you will lead a team of engineers and designers while serving as the Saint John Refinery's Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all electrical and instrumentation engineering. Your goal will be to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient execution of capital and expense projects. Your success will depend on your ability to combine technical expertise with leadership, collaborating effectively with external regulatory bodies and internal stakeholders.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Lead engineering and design efforts by your assigned team members on complex, multi-discipline capital projects. Check and approve work and provide working supervision, guidance, and assistance to your team members

  • Develop, execute, and regularly report on resource plans for your assigned team members and projects, to ensure effective cost, schedule, and quality performance

  • Support regular performance reviews and provide coaching and feedback for your assigned team and support continuous professional development activities

  • Effectively communicate and coordinate activities with other Group and Team Leads, Managers and Senior Managers, and with key stakeholders for your assigned projects and people

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of the whole discipline team and Reliability Engineering department at a leadership level, identifying opportunities, and coordinating resources to implement those improvements

  • Collaborate on project work with third party engineering consultants and contractors. Direct, review and approve their work and deliverables

  • Mentor and coach team members, supporting their professional development and conducting performance reviews

  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and industry standards

  • Develop and maintain refinery standards for electrical and instrumentation equipment

  • Review and update technical procedures and work practices to improve efficiency and reduce waste

  • Represent the refinery in interactions with external regulatory bodies and industry partners

Your Skills:

  • Ability to make timely decisions considering competing priorities and tight deadlines

  • Work independently with strong attention to detail

  • Attention to schedule and cost

  • Keen analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Very good written and verbal communication skills

  • Very organized with a strong ability to prioritize in collaboration with your team

Your Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or related field

  • Professional Engineering (P.Eng.) designation preferred

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in electrical/instrumentation engineering within a refinery or industrial setting

  • Proven leadership experience in managing engineering teams and projects

  • Strong knowledge of regulatory standards, reliability practices, and control systems

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
