Role Description
We are seeking a highly motivated
Electrical Design Engineer
with experience in transformer design to join our engineering team. This role is ideal for an individual who combines technical expertise with hands-on problem-solving and a passion for designing efficient, reliable, and safe transformer products.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop dry-type transformers, ensuring compliance with CSA, IEEE, IEC, and customer specifications - specifically low voltage from 15 to 1000 kVA.
- Collaborate with mechanical designers and production teams to ensure manufacturability and cost-effectiveness.
- Prepare and maintain technical drawings, schematics, and design documentation.
- Conduct design reviews, testing, and troubleshooting during prototype and production stages.
- Support quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Liaise with customers and suppliers on technical requirements when needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Strong knowledge of transformer design software.
- Familiarity with applicable standards (CSA, IEEE, IEC, UL).
- Proficiency with CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent).
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams.
Nice to Have
- Hands-on experience in transformer manufacturing and testing environments.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement processes.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Ontario.
