Starting Salary: $26.50 per hour

Responsibilities:

The Family Resource Worker (FRW) is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the EarlyON Child & Family Centre to include programs and services and community development activities. Reporting to the Director of Family Services, the FRW will plan, develop, and deliver family-centred early learning programs. The FRW promotes programs and community partnerships and development; responds to individual and community requests for service and support; ensures up-to-date knowledge of community resources; participates in meetings within the organization and with community partners as directed.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Education & Certificates

o Successful completion of an Early Childhood Education diploma and registered with the College of Early Childhood Educators; OR a diploma / degree as a Child and Youth Care Practitioner (CYW), Social Service Worker (SSW) or in a Human Service field may be considered in combination with practical experience.

o Current Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check

o First Aid and C.P.R. certificates (or willingness to obtain)

o Food Handlers Certificate (or willingness to obtain)

o Valid "G" Ontario driver's license, clear drivers abstract and access to a reliable vehicle (required).

  • Experience

o Knowledge or experience in a social work environment would be an asset;

o Knowledge or experience working with young children and parents around issues relating to poverty an asset;

o Experience in Family Centered and Early Learning Programming for families with children ages 0 –12;

o Knowledge and familiarity of the Sudbury East District (Noëlville, Alban, St-Charles, Killarney, Markstay, Warren;

o Knowledge of human and early childhood development, parenting skills and pre & post-natal care.

  • Skills

o Fluency in both official languages, French and English, with strong oral and written communication skills (required).

o Ability to self-start, work independently and within a team;

o Excellent problem-solving skills;

o Ability to work with confidential information;

o Proficient in a technical environment (Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and social media best practices).

Additional Considerations:

· Travel: This position will require daily local travel for family programming, community events and meetings.

· Physical Requirements: This position does require the ability to lift and carry up to 16 kilograms (40 pounds).
