About the jobWorking in a multi-disciplinary team at the Cecil Facer Youth Centre, you can expect the typical day to include activities such as:
- Providing a full range of professional, culturally, and gender-responsive social work services
- Coordinating and facilitating the case management process
- Providing clinical assessment, crisis intervention and specialized treatment services for complex cases
- Providing input into individual goal development
- Developing and delivering evidence-based programs
- Conducting individual, family and group counseling and treatment sessions
- Liaising with family and community organizations
Mandatory requirements
- Master of Social Work or Bachelor of Social Work degree with significant post graduate supervised social work experience
- Currently registered in good standing as a Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers
- Proficiency in English as well as French verbal and written communication skills at the advanced level
- You have in-depth knowledge of theories, principles, and practices of social work assessment and intervention
- You can develop and implement rehabilitative treatment plans and programs to clients with complex needs
- You have expertise in case management and clinical planning
- You have demonstrated knowledge of adolescent development, processes, theories and effective therapeutic interventions, including understanding of gender-specific programming and issues related to at risk youth
- You have knowledge of relevant community resources and agencies
- You can provide training, assessment services, and individual, family and group counseling programs
- You can adjust your communication approach to build rapport with youth who have diverse and varied cultural, ethnic, and educational backgrounds
- You can prepare written assessments and program evaluations
- You have experience working effectively within a multidisciplinary team including external agencies
- You can diagnose youth risk, needs, and responsivity issues
- You can develop treatment plans and evaluate programs and services
- You have knowledge of and ability to apply relevant legislation
- You have organizational skills and planning skills to manage workload
- You are proficient with computers including word processing, databases, and internet applications to complete reports, risk assessments, and track statistical data
