As a Civil Project Engineer, you will assume a critical role in delivering high-quality engineering solutions across a diverse range of infrastructure and site development projects. The role places a strong emphasis on collaboration with both internal teams and external stakeholders to facilitate integrated project delivery. Providing mentorship and technical guidance to junior staff members is also integral, fostering professional development and supporting the continued success of the engineering team.

What You Will Do

  • Lead and execute a variety of civil engineering assignments, with a focus on site development, grading, stormwater management, and municipal servicing.
  • Apply sound engineering judgment to solve complex design and field challenges using both standard and innovative approaches.
  • Interpret client requirements, investigate technical issues, and coordinate work schedules to ensure project alignment and compliance.
  • Prepare and review design drawings, specifications, cost estimates, tender documents, and progress reports.
  • Participate in project planning and scheduling to meet budget, timeline, and performance objectives.
  • Conduct site visits and field reviews to monitor construction progress and resolve issues.
  • Consult with suppliers and approval agencies to secure appropriate procedures and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to support integrated project delivery.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior staff.
  • Maintain awareness of related architectural and engineering disciplines to support holistic project outcomes.
  • Refer complex or unusual problems to senior engineers or specialists as needed.
  • Assist with various tasks and projects as assigned by supervisors or senior team members to support the overall success of the civil engineering team and company objectives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, applied sciences, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience, preferably in a consulting environment.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation.
  • Proficiency in civil design software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, StormCAD, or equivalent).
  • Thorough knowledge of municipal design standards, construction practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency in preparing progress reports and cost estimates.
  • Familiarity with related architectural and engineering disciplines.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to apply sound judgment in complex situations.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and perform effectively within a team setting.
  • Ability to interpret client requirements and coordinate work schedules accordingly.
