Role Summary:
As an Accountant, you'll play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records and upholding the integrity of our accounting processes. In this fast-paced mass timber manufacturing environment, you'll support both operational and project-based accounting activities.
You'll be responsible for accounts receivable, project billings, tax administration, and financial reporting, while collaborating with project management, production, and leadership teams to drive informed business decisions and support ongoing company growth.
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Manage daily accounting operations, including accounts receivable, billing, and cash flow projections.
- Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations to maintain accurate general ledger records.
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities, ensuring financial integrity and accuracy.
- Prepare supporting documentation for project funding claims and audits.
- Manage project billings and collections, coordinating with project managers to ensure timely and accurate invoicing.
- Track progress billings, retention amounts, and project milestones in compliance with contracts.
- Administer and file Canadian and U.S. sales taxes, maintaining documentation and compliance.
- Coordinate information across ERP systems (e.g., Infor CSI) and other financial tools to ensure consistency.
- Identify and resolve accounting issues, recommending process improvements where appropriate.
- Support special projects and ad hoc analyses as required by management.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management to support departmental and organizational goals.
Professional Qualifications & Core Competencies:
- Strong technical accounting skills, including general ledger management and reconciliations.
- Proficiency with ERP systems, such as Infor CSI, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of Canadian tax policies and working understanding of U.S. sales tax administration.
- Experience with project-based billing and construction or manufacturing accounting.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in all accounting activities.
- Analytical thinking to interpret financial data and support decision-making.
- Collaboration with project teams, management, and stakeholders.
- Accountability and ownership of responsibilities.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- CPA designation or in progress is considered an asset.
- 3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in construction or manufacturing environments.
- Experience managing project-based billing, accounts receivable, and reconciliations.
- Exposure to intercompany transactions, foreign exchange, and multi-entity accounting.
Working Conditions & Environment:
- Primarily office-based with standard business hours.
- Occasional travel required to project sites and manufacturing facilities.
- May involve exposure to typical manufacturing environments, including noise, dust, and variable temperatures.
