QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP) or Certified Human Resource Leader (CHRL) certification is preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years' experience in senior human resource management preferably in a non-profit, health care, or social services environment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation including but not limited to: Ontario Employment Standards Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, WSIB, and FIPPA.
  • Knowledge and applied expertise of HR best practices.
  • Detailed oriented and skilled at managing competing priorities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and to promote a healthy team culture.
  • Proficiency in HR software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Conflict resolution and mediation experience.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.

THE ROLE

Reporting to the Director of Corporate Services, the Human Resources Manager (HRM) is responsible for day-to-day leadership of Human Resources. The HRM is a member of BQWCHC's management team – contributing to organizational planning, development and decision-making. This is a dynamic position requiring a leader who is knowledgeable, creative, flexible and wanting to make a difference.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

  • Provide leadership on Human Resources matters and special projects as required to ensure a whole-of-organization approach to mission-achievement.
  • Act as a point of contact for staff regarding employment issues, mediating disputes, and providing guidance on policies and procedures.
  • Work with managers to design and implement staffing plans within budget and to support goal achievement.
  • Lead and coordinate the full recruitment cycle, including job postings, interviews, contracting, and onboarding of new employees.
  • Identify training needs and coordinate professional development opportunities for staff.
  • Develop, implement, and update HR policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with relevant labor laws.
  • Ensure HR practices comply with Ontario employment legislation (e.g., Employment Standards Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act).
  • Represent management as co-chair on the Joint Occupational Health and Committee and promote a safe and healthy work environment.
