Position Overview
We are implementing Microsoft Dynamics 365 Project Operations to digitize and automate our operational workflows. We are seeking an experienced Dynamics 365 Technical Lead to design and build the technical solution from initial configuration through go-live.
This is a hands-on technical role requiring deep expertise in Dynamics 365 Project Operations, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to translate solution designs into scalable system configurations. The successful candidate will be responsible for technical configuration, customization, integration, and deployment activities, while working collaboratively with our project manager, business stakeholders, and subject matter experts to ensure alignment with operational requirements and project goals.

Key Responsibilities

•    Lead the technical implementation and configuration of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Project Operations across project management, resource planning, scheduling, time and expense, invoicing, and reporting modules.

•    Design the technical solution architecture, including data models, entity relationships, security configuration, and integration patterns, ensuring scalability and platform alignment.

•    Configure Dataverse entities, fields, relationships, business rules, workflows, and forms based on documented functional requirements provided by the project team.

•    Integrate Dynamics 365 with Microsoft 365 services (Teams, SharePoint, Power BI, Power Automate) and external systems using APIs, middleware, and authenticated data connections.

•    Design and build automated processes, approval workflows, dashboards, and analytics using Power Platform components.

•    Collaborate with the project manager, functional leads, and subject matter experts to clarify technical requirements, validate configurations, and address system defects.

•    Develop and execute data migration activities, including mapping, transformation, validation, reconciliation, and cutover tasks, in coordination with data owners.

•    Establish and administer Dynamics 365 environments (Development, Test, UAT, Production), including solution packaging, deployment, versioning, and environment refresh procedures.

•    Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to performance, system configuration, environment alignment, security roles, and integration reliability.

•    Provide recommendations on configuration versus customization approaches to ensure long-term maintainability and alignment with Microsoft best practices.

•    Create and maintain technical documentation, integration specifications, deployment runbooks, and configuration traceability to support sustained internal ownership.

•    Build and maintain role-based dashboards, reporting views, and data models to support operational and financial insights.

Qualifications & Experience

•    7+ years of hands-on experience implementing and configuring Microsoft Dynamics 365 Project Operations (or related modules such as PSA or Finance & Operations).

•    Deep technical knowledge of Microsoft Dataverse, including entity and relationship design, security models, business rules, and platform extensibility capabilities.

•    Demonstrated leadership of technical implementation activities for project-based or professional services organizations, including configuration, integration, and environment deployment.

•    Proficiency with environment management, solution deployment pipelines, versioning strategies, and application lifecycle management across DEV, TEST, UAT, and PROD environments.

•    Experience developing and executing data migration activities, including data modeling, mapping, ETL transformation, validation, reconciliation, and cutover sequencing.

•    Proven ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues, optimize system performance, and resolve integration and security conflicts.

•    Strong proficiency in Power Platform tools (Power BI, Power Automate, Power Apps).

•    Experience integrating Dynamics with financial or accounting systems to support billing, invoicing, and revenue recognition workflows.

•    Understanding of Dynamics 365 Project Operations technical components such as resource scheduling, pricing dimensions, project accounting, cost controls, and time and expense processing.

•    Ability to work independently and drive assigned technical deliverables without heavy oversight, while collaborating with the project team.

•    Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

•    Microsoft Dynamics 365 or Power Platform certifications (MB-700, PL-600, or equivalent) are strongly preferred but not required.

•    Experience working with project managers to translate requirements into technical solutions
