Grill / Pizza / Prep Cook

The Concession Grill, Pizza, and Prep Cook is responsible for preparing, cooking, and assembling high-quality food items in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Working in accordance with Legends' Food Safety and Sanitation standards and Toronto Public Health requirements, this role ensures the safe handling, cooking, and presentation of all menu items. The Cook supports event-day operations by maintaining efficiency, consistency, and teamwork across the kitchen and concession areas while contributing to a clean, organized, and safe workspace.

The RoleDuties & Responsibilities
  • Prepare and portion food items according to standardized recipes, build sheets, and event production guides.
  • Operate various cooking and food preparation equipment including grills, fryers, ovens, pizza ovens, smokers, and dough rollers safely and efficiently.
  • Cook and assemble food orders accurately and in a timely manner to meet event demand and guest satisfaction.
  • Conduct and record temperature checks during cooking, holding, and cooling stages, maintaining compliance with Legends' Food Safety Policies and Toronto Public Health regulations.
  • Label, date, and store received and prepped food items following the FIFO (First-In, First-Out) method.
  • Maintain proper station setup, stock levels, and cleanliness before, during, and after service.
  • Ensure work areas, utensils, and equipment are cleaned, sanitized, and organized according to Legends standards.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, Stand Leads, and Supervisors to support seamless concession operations.
  • Follow all company, client, and regulatory safety procedures including the use of required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Support inventory control and product rotation to minimize waste.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Stand Lead, Supervisor, or Manager.
Skills & Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of basic culinary practices, safe food handling, and sanitation procedures.
  • Proficiency in using commercial kitchen equipment (grill, fryer, oven, pizza oven, smoker, dough roller, etc.).
  • Ability to work quickly and efficiently under pressure while maintaining high food quality standards.
  • Excellent teamwork, communication, and time management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and adherence to food safety and brand presentation standards.
  • Ability to take direction and adapt to changing event needs in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge, Education, & Experience
  • Minimum of 1 year of cooking or food preparation experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic food safety principles and HACCP procedures required.
  • Familiarity with Ontario Public Health food safety regulations and Legends' Food Safety Policies considered an asset.
  • Smart Serve certification preferred for roles involving alcohol handling.
  • Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays to support event schedules.
Physical Demands
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods (up to 6 hours or more per shift).
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent reaching, bending, walking, and handling of kitchen equipment and supplies.
  • Ability to work in a hot, fast-paced environment around open flames and cooking equipment.
  • Must adhere to all personal safety requirements, including PPE use (cut gloves, hot mitts, etc.).
